Unlike the UK, the US university system is based on a four-year Bachelor’s degree with a flexible curriculum. Pathway programs in the US are structured differently:
In the US, pathway programs are usually integrated directly into the first year of university. You take credit-bearing academic classes alongside specialized English and study-skills support. * How it works: You earn regular academic credits during your pathway year. Once completed, you progress directly into the second year (Sophomore year) of the Bachelor’s degree, meaning no extra time is added to your studies. * Academic Requirements: A Baccalauréat average starting from 10/20 or 11/20. * English Requirements: Very flexible. Some universities accept TOEFL, Duolingo English Test (DET), or offer internal placement tests. If your English is lower, you can start with intensive English courses before transitioning to academic credits.

Direct entry to prestigious UK and US universities often requires high grades (e.g., 14/20 to 16/20 on the Baccalauréat) and high English scores (IELTS 6.5+). Pathway programs allow you to gain entry with a Baccalauréat average of 10/20 to 12/20 and lower English scores.
